"I'm craving for something chocolatey!"
It must be the best reason why this gorgeous cake is on my table today. I was craving for chocolate cake since Sunday, especially when I watched Junior Masterchef Indonesia Season 2 on youtube and the challenge that day was about making a cake.
It must be the best reason why this gorgeous cake is on my table today. I was craving for chocolate cake since Sunday, especially when I watched Junior Masterchef Indonesia Season 2 on youtube and the challenge that day was about making a cake.
Hmm, all I can say is that this chocolate cake I baked earlier today has a perfect ganache frosting, which one the recipe was adapted from one of my favourite website www.joyofbaking.com. Three parts of making this cake are: baking the chocolate cake, drizzling the cake with ganache frosting and at last decorating the top with marshmallows and Raffaello chocolate.
I've been liking Raffaello more than any other chocolate here in Germany, because it kinda has that special coconut taste mixed along with the chocolate itself. Absolutely a super yummy chocolate, I can say. And the marshmallows are so fluffy, sweet and cute. And as we all know, marshmallows are also really well combined with many chocolatey desserts.
So, here's the recipe to follow! Try it when you have time :)
For the chocolate cake:
Ingredients:
195 grams all purpose flour
200 grams granulated white sugar
25 grams unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
75 grams unsalted butter, melted
240 ml warm water
1 tablespoon lemon juice (or vinegar)
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Directions:
1). Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (177 degrees C) and place rack in center of oven.
2). In an ungreased 8 inch (20 cm) square cake pan, stir together the flour, sugar, sifted cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3). Add the melted butter, water, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. With a fork, mix all the ingredients together until well blended.
4). Bake for about 30 minutes, or until the cake springs back when lightly pressed and a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean. Remove from oven and place on a wire rack to cool.
For the ganache:
Ingredients:
Directions:
1). Place the chopped chocolate in a medium sized heatproof bowl. Set aside.
2). Heat the cream and butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring just to a boil.
3). Immediately pour the boiling cream over the chocolate and allow to stand, without stirring, for a few minutes. Stir gently with a spoon or whisk until smooth.
Makes enough ganache to cover one - 9 inch (23 cm) cake.
For the toppings:
Decorate it with store-bought marshmallows and Raffaello. This is optional! You may also use any other chocolate like Ferrero Rocher, Giotto, Lindt etc.
